Woman, mother and hairstylist. Krista is an independent woman who strives everyday to be a better version of herself in order to be the best mother to her incredibly, resilient son. Before becoming a mom, Krista found her first love 14 years ago when she pursued hairstyling at the age of 18. Krista graduated in 2010 and received the Merit award at Marca College. Soon after she started her career at a local Canadian beauty supply/hair salon company where she began as a junior stylist. Krista's persistence and determination to build a clientele was rewarding when becoming a Master Stylist after 4 years. Krista's work behind the chair didn't stop there, she has volunteered at her old high school for the cosmetology program to help encourage youth wanting to pursue hairstyling. She shared her passion for hair to inspire students to take the hairstyling path and enjoyed doing so. Krista is currently continuing her love of hair at Luminous Hair Salon, where she's been working at for the past 9 years. Also, Krista takes pride in her connections with people in her community and hopes she can make an impact with one client at a time. She values the 1 on 1, daily human interactions and it goes beyond just doing their hair. Krista is extremely grateful for the opportunity to connect with her clients from all walks of life, it creates an awareness of people's day to day experiences, life's milestones and everything in between. She is humbled to be a part of their lives and has every intention to strengthen those bonds each day in her career. Krista is looking forward to the future, to branch off and build a new business, give back to her community by helping and inspire anyone and everyone she comes across and to raise a young boy into a man, who then can carry on her legacy.

Dr. Hadal El-Hadi is a resident of University of British Columbia's Public Health and Preventative Medicine Residency Program. She strongly believes in the importance of educating and motivating people into taking notice of injustices and working as a team to improve the lives of those around us. One of the biggest reasons she pursued medicine as a career was because she wanted to be part of a collective that helps children and adults in Canada and globally have a fighting chance to be happy. She recognizes, that given the history and nature of anti-Black racism in Canada and around the world, eradication would be very difficult to achieve. She is also a founder of Black Physicians of Canada. Her hopes for this organization is to have the best interest of Black Canadians at heart and as a fundamental priority create changes to the current system where she can and provide safety nets where she can't.
